The Riviera Reporter has been serving the French Riviera since 1987. In that time many English language publications have come and gone...
According to their website "The Riviera Reporter Magazine has been "the Bible for Riviera residents" since 1987 and is a must-read for local English speakers of any nationality. The core content is a familiar mix of practical information, French and regional news and human interest all with a largely local slant.
The Riviera Reporter is unique. A vital and parochial presence on the Riviera, the Reporter is where part-time or full-time residents look for essential practical information about living in the south of France.
The Riviera Reporter is distributed free directly to the reader where he lives, plays and works. There are no unsold copies piling up on obscure news-stands. Every copy counts.
Among the hundreds of free distribution points are dozens of English-speaking clubs and associations, the Riviera's 13 English bookshops and libraries, the Riviera's 4 international anglophone schools, American, British and Scandinavian consulates, anglophone churches, and dozens of local multinational companies and businesses. 13600 copies are distributed free in this way and 1400 copies are sent out by post to paid subscribers."
The Riviera Reporter Team include Mike Meade as Managing Director and Editor in Chief, Nancy Heslin as Assistant Editor and Patrick Middleton as Features Editor.
At Côte d'Azur Rental.com's main site www.jmlvillas.com and our insurance site www.jml-insurance.co.uk, we had been regular advertisers for many years.
The Riviera Reporter has also highlighted problems of rental scams as with this article from The Riviera Reporter August / September 2005
Rental Scam..... A warning to your readers
Advertisers on the self catering holiday homes web site are being warned to be on the lookout for rental scams.
Some advertisers on jmlvillas.com have been targeted over the past couple of months. The applicant fills out the contact box on an individual advertiser’s property and then states he or she is looking for accommodation.
Quite often this person will talk about a” room” being advertised and they must have this for a number of weeks, sometimes later in the year.
The applicants state they are a business person or model and in a couple of cases say they are coming from Africa using a Yahoo email address.
If an advertiser replies they then arrange to send a payment far in excess of the rental for the agreed period and then immediately want the excess refunded. If the advertiser does this, they will then find that the original payment is bogus. Although all dealings between jmlvillas.com advertisers and renters are nothing to do with jmlvillas.com, I am anxious to warn advertisers of this problem says Philip Suter.

Breathalyser kits now obligatory in cars in France
As of the 1st July 2012, each vehicle must now be equipped with a chemical or electronic breathalyser, so drivers can check that the legal limit (0.5 g per liter of blood or 0.25 mg / l of breath) has not been exceeded. Excess alcohol in 2011 remained the leading cause of death on the roads of France. Motorists will have to tidy in their glove box to find a small place. As of July 1, breathalyzers are indeed mandatory in vehicles. Launched by the former government, this measure aims at cultivating new habits of self among road users. Are concerned, motorists in the broad sense as drivers of electric vehicles without a license will also need to get a breathalyzer.
